With Chief Engagement Officer and President Jacki Zehner

I remember my first conversation with the founders of Women Moving Millions, sisters Helen and Swanee Hunt. I was struck by their unique idea: Catalyze unprecedented resources toward the advancement of women and girls by celebrating those who have given or pledged $1 million or more to this cause.  I was invited to speak at one of their first gatherings and have spoken or moderated discussions at nearly every one since.

This year, I curated the opening plenary at their annual meeting, which focused on the power of purpose, and moderated the evening, which featured Meryl Streep; Yang Lan, China’s best known journalist; Cathy Schulman; and Christy Turlington Burns. I interviewed Christy about her decision to start Every Mother Counts, and the difference that organization has made in maternal and child health worldwide.

I learn so much at these events, and I always leave feeling inspired and committed to doing as much as I can for this organization as part of their advisory board.
